My Smart Home Tour 2021
I have been building my smart home for more than 4 years. After adding almost 100 different devices to my home, it’s time to show what building a smart home is all about! In this post, I will be listing all of the devices I am currently using in each room. Hopefully, this helps you in getting ideas for your own smart home.
Let’s start with the Living Room. Here we have smart shades that automatically close with the sunset and open each morning. I also have a motion sensor that keeps the lamp turned on when we are hanging in the evening and my Nest Hub to control everything through voice.

Right off the hallway, we have the laundry room. In this room I have smart bulbs, a Nest Wifi Point & a SmartThings enabled Samsung washer and dryer. They notify us of when the laundry is done and it really helps us remember to change it.
In the kids bathroom, I am running a simple automation that works with the Lutron dimmer and a SmartThings Motion sensor. When the kids enter the bathroom the lights automatically turn on, and if they forget to turn off the light it will automatically shut off after 10 minutes. I also have multiple automations set in SmartThings so that it turns the lights on much dimmer at night than during the day.

The kids room is the only room in the house that has all Amazon products. Here we have a Echo Dot 4th Gen Tiger edition and the Echo Glow smart bulb. We can control the lights in the room and it is easy to turn off the lights at night with my “Night Night” routine.

In Adele’s room, we keep it pretty simple with the smart devices. She is using a Lenovo Smart Clock to control her Philips Hue Smart Bulb. We also have a Hue remote that can easily control the bulb. In this room we also have a Nest Protect smoke alarm that will alert us if smoke or CO detected in the home.
